A new survey from the University of Michigan has found that about 1 in 8 Americans over 50 struggle with an unhealthy level of loneliness. 13% of adults ages 50 to 80 suffered from “moderate to severe” loneliness. The researchers found that a positive outlook on aging could help combat loneliness, as well as certain community resources and interventions. With social isolation due to the pandemic, this issue has become even more prevalent and requires attention to help improve the quality of life for this group.
