Pakistan’s Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has presented the budget for the fiscal year 2023-24 during a session of the National Assembly. Dar told the assembly that the government had set a modest growth target and there were no new taxes in the budget. The opposition was noticeably absent during the presentation of the budget. The budget proposal includes an allocation of around $658m for the coronavirus vaccination programme and $1.44bn for the health sector. The education sector will receive an allocation of around $1.57bn while the development budget has been set at around $25.8bn.
