Tata Group has announced its plans to establish a lithium-ion cell manufacturing giga factory in Gujarat, India. The conglomerate will invest ₹13,000 crore in the initial stages of the project. The aim of the project is to strengthen India’s manufacturing capabilities and reduce the country’s dependence on imported lithium-ion batteries. The new factory is expected to create job opportunities for thousands of people in the state. The project will also contribute to the country’s efforts towards becoming self-reliant, with the production capacity of the new factory expected to be in the gigawatt-hour range.
