Jim Keller, a former chip architect at AMD, has revealed the first estimates for the next-gen Zen 5 CPU architecture, which is set to launch next year. According to Keller, Zen 5 will have “exponentially” better performance, with an improved power efficiency compared to its predecessors. The Zen 5 architecture is expected to have a different “underlying design philosophy” and will be more focused on specific use cases. Keller also revealed that Zen 5 will support DDR5 memory and will be built on a 5nm process. With these enhancements, Zen 5 could prove to be a real game-changer for AMD in the competitive CPU market.
