Four of the world’s leading universities will have women as their leaders for the first time in history. By July this year, Oxford, Harvard, Cambridge, and MIT will all have women at the helm. The President of MIT, L. Rafael Reif stated that the arrival of the women CEOs is “a milestone in the global academic community”, and that he hopes that it would “set an example for generations of women to come”. This landmark moment could set an encouraging precedent for gender equality in the academic world.
