A verbal altercation between Chief Justice of India (CJI) D.Y. Chandrachud and Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) president Vikas Singh took place in the Supreme Court over the allotment of land for lawyers’ chambers. CJI Chandrachud directed Singh to not raise his voice and leave the court, after Singh demanded the matter be listed for the last six months. The CJI announced his verdict for March 17, and warned Singh not to threaten him. Senior advocates later apologized to the bench for the incident.
