Reports suggest that Apple may be planning to launch two second-generation AR/MR headsets in 2025 – a “low-end” and “high-end” model. The first-gen MR headset is expected to be priced around $3,000 and feature 15 cameras, 8 of which are for AR, 1 for environmental detection, and 6 for biometrics. The second-gen headset may cut down on some of these features to bring the price down. The joint venture between Pegatron and Luxshare, Luxcaseict, and Foxconn will develop and manufacture the headsets. The idea of Apple launching two headsets – a premium model alongside an affordable option – isn’t alien. The company already offers Pro models with non-Pro models to go with them for nearly its entire catalogue of products.
