AIDCF, the All India Digital Cable Federation, and three leading broadcasters, Sony, Disney Star India, and Zee Entertainment have been engaged in a legal dispute in the Kerala High Court over the implementation of the NTO 3.0. Cable operators are claiming that the price increase is exorbitant and will raise consumers’ monthly cable bill. AIDCF has warned advertisers, media planners, and ad agencies against advertising on the broadcasters’ channels. MSO Kerala Communicators Cable Ltd (KCCL) has agreed to negotiate interconnection agreements with the broadcasters, however, other MSOs like Siti Cable, KAL Cables, Tamil Nadu Arasu Cable TV, and Thamizhaga Cable TV are still in conflict. AIDCF claims that despite the case being in court, these major broadcasters disconnected their signals, depriving 25 million households across India from watching their channels.
