Google has announced the rollout of two new features to the Chrome browser – Memory Saver and Energy Saver modes – designed to make the notoriously resource-hungry app play more nicely with others and reduce battery consumption. Memory Saver frees up memory from inactive tabs and Energy Saver limits background activity and visual effects when battery levels fall below 20%. Both features can be disabled if needed, but leaving them enabled is recommended to help reduce battery drain on portable machines.
