Uddhav Thackeray-group’s chief spokesperson Sanjay Raut made a sensational allegation that Rs 2,000 crore had changed hands for securing the political party name “Shiv Sena” and the “bow and arrow” symbol. This allegation was made a couple of days after the Election Commission allotted it to the faction led by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. Raut claimed that the information had come from a “builder close to them” and also tagged the Prime Minister’s Office and the Election Commission of India in his tweet. The Shinde-led faction of Shiv Sena and BJP have rejected the charges and hit out at Raut for his comments. Senior BJP leader and minister Sudhir Mungantiwar said that these are baseless allegations and Mumbai BJP chief Ashish Shelar claimed people making such comments have “either lost senses or gone mad.”
