The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Sunday announced the squad for the final two Test matches of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series against Australia. The squad has been retained from the previous match with the exception of Jaydev Unadkat who made a return after being released before the second Test for the Ranji Trophy final. The selection committee was attacked and shamed on social media for retaining players like KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav while continuing to ignore Sarfaraz Khan amid his run-scoring spree in domestic cricket. Despite the low returns, Rahul has been retained by the selectors, although has been removed from his vice-captaincy role with BCCI yet to name a replacement. India beat Australia by six wickets on Sunday in the second Test to retain the Border-Gavaskar trophy for the fourth successive time with an unassailable 2-0 lead in the contest. India now head to the third Test with the eye of winning the series and confirming their place in the World Test Championship final.
