Union Home Minister Amit Shah, on a visit to the poll-bound state of Tripura, launched a scathing attack on Congress and said that Congress and CPI(M) did nothing for Tripura. He alleged that Congress must feel ashamed for allying with CPI(M) who killed so many of their party members and also made the local Tipra Motha Party a “pawn”. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also addressed two rallies in Tripura on Saturday, giving a boost to the BJP’s campaign. He said the BJP government had worked to empower women in the state and had focussed on increasing the income of people in Tripura. Elections will be held on 60 seats in Tripura on February 16 and the counting of votes will be held on March 2.
