Tech companies have found a new business model in Generative AI or ChatGPT-like bots, which may soon lead to users having to pay to search for information on the internet. Google and Microsoft are racing to embrace this technology as it could lead to them processing 9 billion search queries per day and monetizing at least 1%. ChatGPT is just the trailer, as there are already AI platforms that can create images and videos as well. The hints of this are already visible on ChatGPT’s subscription page, with the possibility of a freemium model for their search engines being rolled out in the next couple of years. People may be given some free credits to begin with, and the cost of asking a question will depend on the computing power required to answer it. AI will not take away jobs, but it will change jobs for sure, and people should upskill themselves to be able to predict and answer questions for AI platforms.
