Law Minister Kiren Rijiju said in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday that differences of opinion are a part of democracy and ways can be found to resolve them. He was responding to a question by TMC member Jawhar Sircar on whether there exists differences between the judiciary and the executive on the issue of appointment of judges. The government also responded to Sircar’s question on the appointment of Victoria Gowri as a judge of the high court, asserting that she has been appointed through a process. Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar said the three wings of the state have to act in tandem and mutual respect must be shown for them. Rijiju said that while there are 210 vacancies in various high courts, no sharp differences exist as the proposals are yet to be received.
