India and Sri Lanka were playing the third and final ODI of the series in Thiruvananthapuram. After India won the toss and chose to bat first, Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill took the bowling attack to the cleaners with a fearless batting display. Kohli scored 166 off 110 (13 fours, 8 sixes) and Gill chipped in with 116 off 97 balls including 14 fours and 2 sixes, helping India post an impressive total of 390 for the loss of five wickets in their allotted quota of 50 overs.
On the other hand, the Sri Lankan cricket team were simply not able to compete with the Indian batting line up and were bundled out for 73 runs. This gave India a 317-run win, the biggest ever in the history of ODIs. Furthermore, Indian fast bowler Mohammed Siraj made headlines for his terrific bowling performance, as well as a brilliant run out.
The incident happened during the fourth ball of the 12th over, when Chamika Karunaratne played a defensive shot and simply posed just like that. However, he didn’t realize that he was inches short of his crease, but Siraj realized that he was out of the crease quickly hit the stumps and ran him out. The video clip of the same has gone viral on the internet. Siraj had a fabulous day at the office as he bagged four wickets, giving away 32 runs in 10 overs, and also bowled a maiden over.
